Seminar on Numerical Analysis in Geotechnics (NAG2018), on 22nd March 2018

 The Vietnamese Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (VSSMGE), the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) and the National Taiwan Univ of Science and Technology (NTUST) is going to organize the one-day seminar on Numerical Analysis in Geotechnics (NAG2018), on 22nd March 2018, in Ho Chi Minh City

A half-day site visit to HCMC Urban Railway Construction Project – Line 1 (Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien Section) will be held on the next day, 23rd March 2017. This is the second time the international seminar NAG is organized in Vietnam. The first event NAG2015 was held on 20 August 2015 in Hanoi, with more than 120 attendees from seven countries and territories, including Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Canada, France, China and Vietnam.

I would like to send you the seminar NAG2018 second announcement. So far, the seminar organizing committee has received a number of abstracts of valuable papers and lectures, among which are:

  • “The important role of powerful numerical tools for highly qualified sustainable Construction in Geotechnical Engineering” by Prof. R. Katzenbach (Germany);
  • “Application of numerical methods in the design of deep excavation” by Prof. C.Y. Ou (Taiwan);
  • “Why 3D analysis is needed? Examples with Plaxis 3D” by Dr. William Cheang (Singapore) and Dr. Phung Duc Long (Vietnam);
  • “Numerical analysis of Mekong delta land subsidence and possible different views between geotechnical engineers and journalists on this matter” by Dr. Ph.H. Giao (Thailand).

Both papers in formal format and/or PPT presentations are accepted. They will be put in a CDROM. This allows persons who can not manage to write formal papers, but have good ideas, can join the seminar.

All the best,

Dr. Phung Duc Long,

President of Vietnamese Society for Soil Mechanics & Geotechnical Engineering

Chairman, NAG2018  International Seminar
